Douglas John Foskett (1918 - 2004) was a British librarian and information scientist recognized for his contributions to classification theory and library organization. After service in World War II, he led information services in industry and later shaped academic librarianship at the Institute of Education and the University of London, where he developed the London Education Classification. A founder of the Classification Research Group, he advanced international collaboration in library science through UNESCO and teaching appointments worldwide.
