Laurence Bedford Heilprin (1906-1993) theorized information science.

Life
Laurence Bedford Heilprin was born in 1906. Major contribution according to Farkas-Conn was to set the stage for interest groups within ASIS; Worked under Clapp at the Council on Library Resources; Worked for Documentation Inc. (Taube's company); Prof., Univ. of Maryland; Along with Luhn, instrumental in bringing about ARIST; Cochrane, Bourne, and Cuadra were the driving force for ARIST. Heilprin served as a professor of math and physics at Northwestern University prior to coming to Maryland in 1967 and remained until his retirement in 1976; he was professor emeritus at the time of his death. Contribution
Heilprin explored fundamental aspects of information science throughout his career and stimulated others to do research and attempt to discover the theoretical underpinnings of information science.
