Lee was a physiology instructor at Ohio State, 1923-26. He was a research associate at Harvard Medical School 1929-42. He served as executive officer and managing editor for the Proceedings of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology, Md, 1947-65. He was managing editor, Journal of Physiology 1947-65. He was interested in insect physiology, endocrine physiology, respiratory metabolism, and protein in metabolism. According to Farkas-Conn, Lee was "an outstanding scientist and director of the FASEB."
