1953-1955 Berry, Kent, and Perry worked on project to develop a mechanized retrieval system for ordnance reports of Development and Proof Services; During this project, they initiated the framework of "telegraphic" abstracting; Used role indicators, syntax, and infixes to provide the user with answers to complex search problems and to prevent giving them unwanted or excess information.
