Contributions

Engelbart invented many items that helped to revolutionize the computer industry, such as the "X-Y Position Indicator for a Display System" (the prototype of the computer mouse).  He holds a total of 20 patents, 1 for the mouse, 7 for his work related to bi-stable gaseous plasma digital devices, and 12 for his work on all-magnetic digital devices.  Engelbart also founded the Bootstrap Institute, where he is an inventor and computer consultant.  For more information, visit the Bootstrap Institute website at http://www.bootstrap.org/.
