Griffith worked at Drexel University and the American Psychological Association.

Taught at Drexel University 1969-91, director of APA's project on scientific-information exchange, published more than 200 scientific papers and edited 2 books. He collaborated with Dr. Henry Small in the early 1970s on the creation of a database that maps scientific research. Griffith lectured at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and the Institute for Technical Knowledge in Utrecht in 1983, and he helped with the design of studies of Dutch science policies. He received grants for his research from the National Science Foundation, Public Health Service, National Library of Medicine, and Department of Education. INCLUDES: Belver Griffith papers: The majority of the collection consists of Dr. Griffith's correspondence with collaborators and scholars studying scientific communication and information science, and date primarily from the 1970s and 1980s. Included with these correspondences are drafts and edited manuscripts that Griffith co-authored. Also included in the collection are several lectures, information on the awards Griffith received, a memoir dating from 1972, and reports to the dean of the College of Information Studies offering summaries of Griffith's activities.
