One of the projects of the ASIST 75th Anniversary Task Force addresses the histories of ASIST Chapters (regional and Student) and ASIST SIGs (Special Interest Groups). In support of our anniversary year celebrations, Task Force Members sought to compile information known about ASIST's component groups both present and past. These include Chapters, Student Chapters, and SIGs. The authors are pleased to present this list of current ASIST Chapter and SIG histories, which is posted at the webpage: http://www.asist.org/asist2012/historyofASIST.html ; as of October 2012. The information presented here also reflects research conducted by Task Force Member Kathryn La Barre during her historical investigation with the ASIST Archives at the University of Michigan. Additionally, the authors and Task Force members recruited authors to present new work at the 2012 Pre-Conference, and further historical research related to ASIST's history will be continued through the activities of SIG HFIS.
Please send any additions to Sarah Buchanan (sarahab@utexas.edu), SIG HFIS Chair, 2012-2013.
