Otto Frank

Otto Frank (1900-1981) was a German documentalist and standards advocate.

Life

Otto Frank was born July 30, 1900 in Essen. Served in the army during World War I, 1918-1919. From October 1919 he studied mechanical engineering and electrical engineering in the technical universities of Stuttgart and Berlin, with some work experience in industry. He worked for Siemens & Halske, Berlin, 1923-1924, then from November 1924 for the Normenausschusses der Deutschen Industrie (German standards institute, later renamed Deutscher Normenausschuss). He died in 1981.

Contributions

Frank was best known for his advocacy of standards, his bibliographies and his Handbuch der Klassifikationhandbook (Handbook on classification).
