He studied  in modern languages at Michigan State Normal College (later named Eastern Michigan University) (AB, 1933); then Germanic languages and literatures at the University of Michigan, MA (1934) and PhD (1940) in German, and ABLS in 1940. He studied at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, 1935-1936.

He completed a pioneering study on the cost of a book. Israel Albert Warheit (1912-1973) was an American librarian.


Life

Israel Albert Warheit was born on December 12, 1912 in York, Ontario, Canada, and moved to the USA in 1927. He studied in modern languages at Michigan State Normal College (later named Eastern Michigan University) (AB, 1933); then Germanic languages and literatures at the University of Michigan, MA (1934) and PhD (1940) in German, and ABLS in 1940. He studied at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, 1935-1936.
